Thoughts from the Week: 4/14/23
Each Friday, I like to share some thoughts, learnings, and reflections from my quiet times during the week. I hope they’re encouraging and helpful!
Be blessed this week,
Pastor Hugh
Believers really do not fall away from Jesus, they are led away.
“But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons,” 1 Timothy 4:1
A good servant of Jesus is constantly nourishing themselves on the truth of God’s Word.
“In pointing out these things to the brothers and sisters, you will be a good servant of Christ Jesus, constantly nourished on the words of the faith and of the good doctrine which you have been following.” 1 Timothy 4:6
Spiritual disciplines practiced in humility produce spiritual Godliness in the life of a believer.
“But stay away from worthless stories that are typical of old women. Rather, discipline yourself for the purpose of godliness;” 1 Timothy 4:7
All believers are a part of God’s immediate family.
“Do not sharply rebuke an older man, but rather appeal to him as a father, and to the younger men as brothers, to the older women as mothers, and to the younger women as sisters, in all purity.” 1 Timothy 5:1-2
The principles of a Christlike life are to be employed impartially.
“I solemnly exhort you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus and of His chosen angels, to maintain these principles without bias, doing nothing in a spirit of partiality.” 1 Timothy 5:21
It is the church which upholds and guards the truth of almighty God.
“but in case I am delayed, I write so that you will know how one should act in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and support of the truth.” 1 Timothy 3:15
A person’s character and life are evident and cannot be hidden.
“The sins of some people are quite evident, going before them to judgment; for others, their sins follow after. Likewise also, deeds that are good are quite evident, and those which are otherwise cannot be concealed.” 1 Timothy 5:24-25
