Thoughts from the Week: 4/21/23

Each Friday, I like to share some thoughts, learnings, and reflections from my quiet times during the week. I hope they’re encouraging and helpful!

Be blessed this week,

Pastor Hugh

My attitude regarding my station in life greatly affects my testimony for Jesus.

“All who are under the yoke as slaves are to regard their own masters as worthy of all honor so that the name of God and our doctrine will not be spoken against.,” 1 Timothy 6:1

Desiring godliness necessitates contentment with the bare necessities of life.

“But godliness actually is a means of great gain when accompanied by contentment. For we have brought nothing into the world, so we cannot take anything out of it, either.  If we have food and covering, with these we shall be content.” 1 Timothy 6:6-8

Those with whom we daily cross paths should see us actively standing firm in our faith.

“Fight the good fight of faith; take hold of the eternal life to which you were called, and for which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.” 1 Timothy 6:12

Believers should be fixed on the certainty of Jesus and not on the uncertainty of people.

“Instruct those who are rich in this present world not to be conceited or to set their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly supplies us with all things to enjoy.” 1 Timothy 6:17

Determination to live for Jesus rises out of my daily reminder of His calling and claim on my life.

“For this reason I remind you to kindle afresh the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands.” 2 Timothy 1:6

A holy, righteous life is the mark of a born-again believer.

“Nevertheless, the firm foundation of God stands, having this seal: “The Lord knows those who are His;” and, “Everyone who names the name of the Lord is to keep away from wickedness.” 2 Timothy 2:19
