Thoughts from the Week: 4/7/23

Each Friday, I like to share some thoughts, learnings, and reflections from my quiet times during the week. I hope they’re encouraging and helpful!

Be blessed this week,

Pastor Hugh

If we are not busy taking care of our own business, then we will be busy sticking our nose into the business of others.

“For we hear that some among you are leading an undisciplined life, doing no work at all, but acting like busybodies.” 2 Thessalonians 3:11

Getting involved in religious speculation hinders the work of the Gospel which is accomplished by faith.

“nor to pay attention to myths and endless genealogies, which give rise to useless speculation rather than advance the plan of God, which is by faith, so I urge you now.” 1 Timothy 1:4

It is Jesus who strengthens and encourages His followers in His Kingdom work.

“I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has strengthened me, because He considered me faithful, putting me into service,” 1 Timothy 1:12

Strong faith and clear conscience before Jesus allows for a bold contending for the Gospel.

“This command I entrust to you, Timothy, my son, in accordance with the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you fight the good fight, keeping faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and suffered shipwreck in regard to their faith.” 1 Timothy 18-19

If Jesus died for all then we should pray for all.

“First of all, then, I urge that requests, prayers, intercession, and thanksgiving be made in behalf of all people,” 1 Timothy 2:1

It is the church which upholds and guards the truth of almighty God.

“but in case I am delayed, I write so that you will know how one should act in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and support of the truth.” 1 Timothy 3:15

The unity of the church is rooted in its common confession of faith.

“Beyond question, great is the mystery of godliness: He who was revealed in the flesh, was vindicated in the Spirit, seen by angels, proclaimed among the nations, believed on in the world, taken up in glory.” 1 Timothy 3:16
