Thoughts from the Week: 1/20/23

Each Friday, I like to share some thoughts, learnings, and reflections from my quiet times during the week. I hope they’re encouraging and helpful!

Be blessed this week,

Pastor Hugh

Spiritual gifts are manifestations of the Holy Spirit for the good of the whole church.

“But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.” 1 Corinthians 12:7

The manifestation gifts are given according to the will of the Holy Spirit.

“But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually just as He wills.” 1 Corinthians 12:11

God assembles the Body of Christ according to His will.

“But now God has placed the members, each one of them, in the body, just as He desired.” 1 Corinthians 12:18

All ministries, gifts, and effects of the church are to be bathed in love.

“If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.” 1 Corinthians 13:1

A maturing believer leaves behind his immature thoughts and habits.

“When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, think like a child, reason like a child; when I became a man, I did away with childish things.” 1 Corinthians 13:11

Prophecy bathed in love edifies everyone.

“One who speaks in a tongue edifies himself; but one who prophesies edifies the church.” 1 Corinthians 14:4

The proclaiming of the Word of God should bring conviction and repentance of the heart.

“But if all prophesy, and an unbeliever or an ungifted man enters, he is convicted by all, he is called to account by all; the secrets of his heart are disclosed; and so he will fall on his face and worship God, declaring that God is certainly among you.” 1 Corinthians 14:24-25
