Thoughts from the Week: 1/6/23

Each Friday, I like to share some thoughts, learnings, and reflections from my quiet times during the week. I hope they’re encouraging and helpful!

Be blessed this week,

Pastor Hugh

The Holy Spirit’s influence in a person’s life should never be underestimated.

“For how do you know, O wife, whether you will save your husband? Or how do you know, O husband, whether you will save your wife?” 1 Corinthians 7:16

No matter a believer’s life situation they should seek undistracted devotion to Jesus.

“This I say for your own benefit; not to put a restraint upon you, but to promote what is appropriate and to secure undistracted devotion to the Lord.” 1 Corinthians 7:35

A believer should not allow their liberty in Jesus to hinder a fellow believer’s walk with Jesus.

“But take care that this liberty of yours does not somehow become a stumbling block to the weak.” 1 Corinthians 8:9

By sinning against a fellow believer, we sin against Jesus.

“And so, by sinning against the brethren and wounding their conscience when it is weak, you sin against Christ.” 1 Corinthians 8:12

A believer’s ministry and calling are to be freely fulfilled.

“For if I preach the gospel, I have nothing to boast of, for I am under compulsion; for woe is me if I do not preach the gospel. For if I do this voluntarily, I have a reward; but if against my will, I have a stewardship entrusted to me.” 1 Corinthians 9:16-17

All of life’s decisions are to be made in view of the gospel’s claim on a believer’s life.

“I do all things for the sake of the gospel, so that I may become a fellow partaker of it.” 1 Corinthians 9:23

A believer’s pride will cause them to stumble and fall.

“Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed that he does not fall.” 1 Corinthians 10:12
