Thoughts from the Week: 12/23/22

Each Friday, I like to share some thoughts, learnings, and reflections from my quiet times during the week. I hope they’re encouraging and helpful!

Be blessed this week,

Pastor Hugh

Members of the Body of Christ do not live exclusively for themselves, but for the good of the Body of Christ.

“Now we who are strong ought to bear the weaknesses of those without strength and not just please ourselves. Each of us is to please his neighbor for his good, to his edification.” Romans 15:1-2

Being filled with the Holy Spirit is to abound in hope.

“Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13

The church that is walking in step with Jesus lacks nothing.

“so that you are not lacking in any gift, awaiting eagerly the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ,” 1 Corinthians 1:7

The wisdom of humans is sometimes foolishness to God.

“Where is the wise man? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?” 1 Corinthians 1:20

The Christian life is all about what God did in Jesus, not what we have done ourselves.

“But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption,” 1 Corinthians 1:30

It is not the persuasiveness of the church which saves a person, but the power of the Holy Spirit.

“and my message and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power,” 1 Corinthians 2:4

The instruction of the Holy Spirit infuses spiritual thoughts and spiritual words into the life of a believer.

“Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things freely given to us by God, which things we also speak, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, combining spiritual thoughts with spiritual words.” 1 Corinthians 2:12-13
