Thoughts from the Week: 9/30/22
Each Friday, I like to share some thoughts, learnings, and reflections from my quiet times during the week. I hope they’re encouraging and helpful!
Be blessed this week,
Pastor Hugh
We cannot oscillate back and forth between faithfulness and unfaithfulness.
“The one who is faithful in a very little thing is also faithful in much; and the one who is unrighteous in a very little thing is also unrighteous in much.” Luke 16:10
The Truth of God is impartial and correct.
“And the spies questioned Him, saying, ‘Teacher, we know that You speak and teach correctly, and You are not partial to anyone, but You teach the way of God on the basis of truth.’” Luke 20:21
When we know our divine purpose, we will have an assured hope and a bold firmness that comes from having a heavenly perspective.
“But Jesus was saying, ‘Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing.’” Luke 23:34
The work of the Spirit cannot be predicted, manipulated, or controlled.
“The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but you do not know where it is coming from and where it is going; so is everyone who has been born of the Spirit.” John 3:8
The doctrine of the church must be the Lord’s truth not personal opinions.
“So Jesus answered them and said, ‘My teaching is not My own, but His who sent Me.’” John 7:16
Jesus’ love is never going to override His will, and His will is never going to override His love. They always work in harmony, even when we cannot see it.
“(Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister, and Lazarus.) So when He heard that he was sick, He then stayed two days longer in the place where He was.” John 11:5-6
A Christian’s allegiance is to the Kingdom of God; we are called out of the corruptness in the world.
“If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, because of this the world hates you.” John 15:19
