Thoughts from the Week: 9/9/22

Each Friday, I like to share some thoughts, learnings, and reflections from my quiet times during the week. I hope they’re encouraging and helpful!

Be blessed this week,

Pastor Hugh

There is no bribing the Lord to turn a blind eye to sin.

“Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them on the day of the wrath of the Lord.
In the fire of His jealousy, all the earth shall be consumed; for a full and sudden end He will make of all the inhabitants of the earth.” Zephaniah 1:18

The Lord sings and rejoices over those who are near to Him.

“The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness; He will quiet you by his love; He will exult over you with loud singing.’” Zephaniah 3:17

Our lives must be evaluated in light of the Lord and His teachings.

“Now, therefore, thus says the Lord of hosts: Consider your ways.” Haggai 1:5

When necessary, the Lord will dry up all resources so there is no where to turn but to Him.

“And I have called for a drought on the land and the hills, on the grain, the new wine, the oil, on what the ground brings forth, on man and beast, and on all their labors.” Haggai 1:11

The Lord will do what is necessary in an effort to get us to turn to Himself.

“I struck you and all the products of your toil with blight and with mildew and with hail, yet you did not turn to Me, declares the Lord.” Haggai 2:17

The Lord patiently waits for our repentance.

“Therefore say to them, Thus declares the Lord of hosts: Return to Me, says the Lord of hosts, and I will return to you, says the Lord of hosts.” Zechariah 1:3

Generational sin can be broken by a humble, repentant heart.

“Do not be like your fathers, to whom the former prophets cried out, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts, Return from your evil ways and from your evil deeds.’ But they did not hear or pay attention to Me, declares the Lord.” Zechariah 1:4
