Thoughts from the Week: 8/12/22

Each Friday, I like to share some thoughts, learnings, and reflections from my quiet times during the week. I hope they’re encouraging and helpful!

Be blessed this week,

Pastor Hugh

To abide in Jesus is to be guided by truth.

“When the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all the truth, for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak, and He will declare to you the things that are to come.” John 16:13

Joy in life comes from Jesus.

“But now I am coming to you, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have my joy fulfilled in themselves.” John 17:13

The testimony of the Body of Christ to the world is its unity in the Holy Spirit.

“that they may all be one, just as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that You have sent Me.” John 17:21

Love for the Body of Christ leads us to serve the Body of Christ.

“For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.” Galatians 5:13

Love for the Body of Christ leads us to be devoted to the Body of Christ.

“And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.” Acts 2:42

Holiness in the Body of Christ is of great value.

“for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.  The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance.” 1 Timothy 4:8-9

To love the Body of Christ is to endure all things for the glory of God, that the Body of Christ might know Him and love Him and live for Him.

“Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.  The saying is trustworthy, for: If we have died with him, we will also live with him;” 2 Timothy 2:10-11
