Thoughts from the Week: 8/5/22

Each Friday, I like to share some thoughts, learnings, and reflections from my quiet times during the week. I hope they’re encouraging and helpful!

Be blessed this week,

Pastor Hugh

Selfish pride causes the human heart to be deceived.

“The horror you inspire has deceived you, and the pride of your heart, you who live in the clefts of the rock, who hold the height of the hill.  Though you make your nest as high as the eagle's, I will bring you down from there, declares the Lord.” Jeremiah 49:16

The Lord stands against a person’s arrogance and pride.

“Behold, I am against you, O proud one, declares the Lord God of hosts, for your day has come, the time when I will punish you.” Jeremiah 50:31

To abide in Jesus is to rest in peace.

“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

To abide in Jesus is to love and be loved.

“for the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God.” John 16:27

To abide in Jesus is to ask and receive.

“In that day you will ask nothing of Me. Truly, truly, I say to you, whatever you ask of the Father in My name, He will give it to you.” John 16:23
