Thoughts from the Week: 8/19/22

Each Friday, I like to share some thoughts, learnings, and reflections from my quiet times during the week. I hope they’re encouraging and helpful!

Be blessed this week,

Pastor Hugh

God does not bless sin even though we think He will.

“Therefore say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God: You eat flesh with the blood and lift up your eyes to your idols and shed blood; shall you then possess the land?’” Ezekiel 33:25

God can restore that which is dead.

”Then he said to me, ‘Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. Behold, they say, ‘Our bones are dried up, and our hope is lost; we are indeed cut off.’  Therefore prophesy, and say to them, Thus says the Lord God: Behold, I will open your graves and raise you from your graves, O my people. And I will bring you into the land of Israel.” Ezekiel 37:11-12

God speaks once and it is accomplished.

“Behold, it is coming and it will be brought about, declares the Lord God. That is the day of which I have spoken.” Ezekiel 39:8

We should never be slack in their service to the Lord.

“Cursed is he who does the work of the Lord with slackness,….” Jeremiah 48:10

Wisdom from God is always better wisdom from humans.

“And in every matter of wisdom and understanding about which the king inquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters that were in all his kingdom.” Daniel 1:20

The first response to answered prayer should be praise.

“Then the mystery was revealed to Daniel in a vision of the night. Then Daniel blessed the God of heaven.” Daniel 2:19

A person’s pride assumes that it can control God.

“Now if you are ready when you hear the sound of the horn, pipe, lyre, trigon, harp, bagpipe, and every kind of music, to fall down and worship the image that I have made, well and good.[c] But if you do not worship, you shall immediately be cast into a burning fiery furnace. And who is the god who will deliver you out of my hands?” Daniel 3:15
