Thoughts from the Week: 6/10/22

Each Friday, I like to share some thoughts, learnings, and reflections from my quiet times during the week. I hope they’re encouraging and helpful!

Be blessed this week,

Pastor Hugh

I should not overindulge but persist in self control.

“If you have found honey, eat only enough for you, lest you have your fill of it and vomit it.” Proverbs 25:16

I should not promote myself but allow the Lord to promote me.

“Do not put yourself forward in the king's presence or stand in the place of the great, for it is better to be told, ‘Come up here,’ than to be put lower in the presence of a noble.” Proverbs 25:6

The surety of God’s Word had faithfully been proven through Jesus.

“Every word of God proves true; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him.” Proverbs 30:5

In the long run increased education is of little value when trying to obtain peace or joy.

“For in much wisdom is much vexation, and he who increases knowledge increases sorrow.” Ecclesiastes 1:18

Material things are temporary and cannot truly satisfy.

“He who loves money will not be satisfied with money, nor he who loves wealth with his income; this also is vanity.” Ecclesiastes 5:10

The Holy Spirit keeps a believer strong and composed in the face of obstacles.

“If the anger of the ruler rises against you, do not leave your place, for calmness will lay great offenses to rest.” Ecclesiastes 10:4

The perfect love of Jesus is intoxicating.

“…..for your love is better than wine;” Song of Solomon 1:2
