Thoughts from the Week: 6/17/22

Each Friday, I like to share some thoughts, learnings, and reflections from my quiet times during the week. I hope they’re encouraging and helpful!

Be blessed this week,

Pastor Hugh

Jesus’ presence is delightful, and His Spirit is sweet.

“As an apple tree among the trees of the forest, so is my beloved among the young men. With great delight I sat in his shadow, and his fruit was sweet to my taste.” Song of Solomon 2:3

In the presence of Jesus there is beauty and in His voice there is sweetness.

“O my dove, in the clefts of the rock, in the crannies of the cliff, let me see your face, let me hear your voice, for your voice is sweet, and your face is lovely.” Song of Solomon 2:14

We may not always be able to find the person we are looking for, but Jesus will always allow Himself to be found by those who look for Him.

“I will rise now and go about the city, in the streets and in the squares; I will seek him whom my soul loves. I sought him, but found him not.” Song of Solomon 3:2

Jesus’ attentive glance in a person’s direction excites their soul.

“You have captivated my heart, my sister, my bride; you have captivated my heart with one glance of your eyes, with one jewel of your necklace.” Song of Solomon 4:9

Love for Jesus causes a person to listen for His voice.

“O you who dwell in the gardens, with companions listening for your voice; let me hear it.” Song of Solomon 8:13

An unrepentant heart hinders one’s prayers.

“When you spread out your hands, I will hide my eyes from you; even though you make many prayers, I will not listen; your hands are full of blood.” Isaiah 1:15

The fleeting life of men should not be exalted or revered in light of our eternal God.

“Stop regarding man in whose nostrils is breath, for of what account is he?” Isaiah 2:22
