Thoughts from the Week: 10/15/21

Each Friday, I like to share some thoughts, learnings, and reflections from my quiet times during the week. I hope they’re encouraging and helpful!

Be blessed this week,

Pastor Hugh

Jesus does not forget our love and ministry to the Body of Christ.

"For God is not unjust so as to overlook your work and the love that you have shown for his name in serving the saints, as you still do." - Hebrews 6:10 (ESV)

Following the spiritual example of another born-again believer’s life keeps us from becoming lazy in our Christian walk.

"And we desire each one of you to show the same earnestness to have the full assurance of hope until the end, so that you may not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises." - Hebrews 6:11-12 (ESV)

Jesus is my guarantee of salvation and sanctification.

"This makes Jesus the guarantor of a better covenant." - Hebrews 7:22 (ESV)

Jesus is the minister and mediator of grace on our behalf.

"But as it is, Christ has obtained a ministry that is as much more excellent than the old as the covenant he mediates is better, since it is enacted on better promises." - Hebrews 8:6 (ESV)

The promised Holy Spirit directs a Christian’s life and desires.

“For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel
after those days, declares the Lord:
I will put my laws into their minds,
and write them on their hearts,
and I will be their God,
and they shall be my people.” - Hebrews 8:10 (ESV)

The mind and heart of each person needs to be cleansed by the blood of Jesus.

“…how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God.” - Hebrews 9:14 (ESV)
