Thoughts from the Week: 8/11/23

Each Friday, I like to share some thoughts, learnings, and reflections from my quiet times during the week. I hope they’re encouraging and helpful!

Be blessed this week,

Pastor Hugh

Act 26:13-15 – “At midday, O king, I saw on the way a light from heaven, brighter than the sun, that shone around me and those who journeyed with me.  And when we had all fallen to the ground, I heard a voice saying to me in the Hebrew language, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me? It is hard for you to kick against the goads.’  And I said, ‘Who are you, Lord?’ And the Lord said, ‘I am Jesus whom you are persecuting.’”

I have a place of prayer which I like to frequent once a week.  It is a riverwalk near our home.  It is a wooded walk and quiet except for the noise of creation and Jesus Himself.  While walking on the boardwalk I rounded a corner and looked up.  The sun was in my face, and I was momentarily blinded by its light.  I immediately looked down, guarding my eyes.  In reflection I was reminded of Moses wanting to see the glory of God and Isaiah who saw the Lord high and lifted up.  God’s glory is so awesomely brilliant.  When we are in His presence, we can do nothing else but bow low in reverence.  We can only humble ourselves before Him.  Let us daily focus on Jesus, His glory, and walk humbly with our awesome God.

Micah 6:8 – “He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?”

Rest in Jesus and learn to abide in Him and He will sustain you.

Isaiah 40:29-31 – “He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength.  Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”
