Thoughts from the Week: 3/17/23
Each Friday, I like to share some thoughts, learnings, and reflections from my quiet times during the week. I hope they’re encouraging and helpful!
Be blessed this week,
Pastor Hugh
We should have no confidence in what we can do but only in what Jesus can, will, and has done.
“for we are the true circumcision, who worship in the Spirit of God and take pride in Christ Jesus, and put no confidence in the flesh,” Philippians 3:3
Remembering our past with Jesus we must focus on our present and future with Jesus.
“Brothers and sisters, I do not regard myself as having taken hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13-14
Living in fleshly lusts makes us an enemy of Jesus.
“For many walk, of whom I often told you, and now tell you even as I weep, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ, whose end is destruction, whose god is their appetite, and whose glory is in their shame, who have their minds on earthly things.” Philippians 3:18-19
Trusting in Jesus frees a person from all anxiety.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and pleading with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” Philippians 4:6
One’s life is evidenced by what they have been taught.
“As for the things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.” Philippians 4:9
Through the filling of the Spirit we live worthy of Jesus, pleasing Him.
“so that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;” Colossians 1:10
We exist by the grace of Jesus.
“He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.” Colossians 1:17
