Thoughts from the Week: 3/10/23

Each Friday, I like to share some thoughts, learnings, and reflections from my quiet times during the week. I hope they’re encouraging and helpful!

Be blessed this week,

Pastor Hugh

A pastor’s joy is the church’s participation in the gospel of grace.

“I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always offering prayer with joy in my every prayer for you all, in view of your participation in the gospel from the first day until now.” Philippians 1:3-5

A believer’s righteousness is evidence of Christ’s indwelling Spirit.

“having been filled with the fruit of righteousness which comes through Jesus Christ, for the glory and praise of God.” Philippians 1:11

Every circumstance of life, good or bad, holds an opportunity for the work of the gospel.

“Now I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that my circumstances have turned out for the greater progress of the gospel,” Philippians 1:12

Choosing to be called by the Name of Jesus requires living worthy of His wonderful Name.

“Only conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or remain absent, I will hear about you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;” Philippians 1:27

Humility is regarding others before yourself.

“Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility consider one another as more important than yourselves;” Philippians 2:3

Believers should think as Jesus does.

“Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus,” Philippians 2:5

As lights of the world believers should live above reproach in the world.

“so that you will prove yourselves to be blameless and innocent, children of God above reproach in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you appear as lights in the world,” Philippians 2:15
