Thoughts from the Week: 11/18/22

Each Friday, I like to share some thoughts, learnings, and reflections from my quiet times during the week. I hope they’re encouraging and helpful!

Be blessed this week,

Pastor Hugh

We would have less time to be judgmental towards others’ sins if we would concern ourselves with our own sin.

“Therefore you have no excuse, everyone of you who passes judgment, for in that which you judge another, you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things.” Romans 2:1

Jesus is not concerned with a person’s appearance, ability, or resources but with their humility of heart, their belief and trust of mind, and their obedience of life.

“For there is no partiality with God.” Romans 2:11

Jesus is faithful and true even if we are not.

“May it never be! Rather, let God be found true, though every man be found a liar, as it is written, ‘That You may be justified in Your words, And prevail when You are judged.’” Romans 3:4

No one can accuse God but all are accountable to Him.

“Now we know that whatever the Law says, it speaks to those who are under the Law, so that every mouth may be closed and all the world may become accountable to God;” Romans 3:19

Faith in Jesus is a grace gift of our justification and redemption.

“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus;” Romans 3:23-24

There is no one who can boast of their works before God.

“For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something to boast about, but not before God.” Romans 4:2

God not only gives life where there is none but also existence where there is nothing.

“(as it is written, “A father of many nations have I made you”) in the presence of Him whom he believed, even God, who gives life to the dead and calls into being that which does not exist.” Romans 4:17
