Thoughts from the Week: 10/28/22

Each Friday, I like to share some thoughts, learnings, and reflections from my quiet times during the week. I hope they’re encouraging and helpful!

Be blessed this week,

Pastor Hugh

Having the mind of Christ is having a mind that is focused and dwells on spiritual things.
“For those who are in accord with the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are in accord with the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace,” Romans 8:5-6

A person whose mind is focused on this world and all it offers cannot please God.
“because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so, and those who are in the flesh cannot please God.” Romans 8:7-8

The paradox of the Christian life is that while the spirit is alive in Jesus, the body is dead in sin.
“If Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, yet the spirit is alive because of righteousness.” Romans 8:10

When the Holy Spirit speaks we must obey without any misgivings.
“And the Spirit told me to go with them without misgivings. These six brothers also went with me, and we entered the man’s house.” Acts 11:12

When the Word of God increases so does the work of God.
“But the word of the Lord continued to grow and to be multiplied.” Acts 12:24

To be continually filled with the Spirit of Jesus is to be continually filled with the character of Jesus.
“And the disciples were continually filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit.” Acts 13:52

The proclamation of Jesus always divides the audience.
“But the people of the city were divided; and some sided with the Jews, while others, with the apostles.,” Acts 14:4
