Thoughts from the Week: 10/7/22

Each Friday, I like to share some thoughts, learnings, and reflections from my quiet times during the week. I hope they’re encouraging and helpful!

Be blessed this week,

Pastor Hugh

The fear of humankind is dispelled by the peace of Jesus.

"Now when it was evening on that day, the first day of the week, and when the doors were shut where the disciples were together due to fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in their midst, and said to them, ‘Peace be to you.’” John 20:19

Corporate prayer should be united in a singular purpose.

“All these were continually devoting themselves with one mind to prayer, along with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers.” Acts 1:14

Spirit-filled people draw attention to Jesus.

“And when this sound occurred, the crowd came together and they were bewildered, because each one of them was hearing them speak in his own language.” Acts 2:6

The resurrection of Jesus put an end to the agony of death for the believer.

“But God raised Him from the dead, putting an end to the agony of death, since it was impossible for Him to be held in its power.” Acts 2:24

The church’s value to its surrounding community is found in its spiritual possessions not merely its material possessions.

“But Peter said, ‘I do not have silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you: In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, walk!’” Acts 3:6

Hope in Jesus far outweighs the fear of humankind.

“But Peter and John answered and said to them, ‘Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you rather than to God, make your own judgment; for we cannot stop speaking about what we have seen and heard.” Acts 4:19-20
