Thoughts from the Week: 2/4/22

Each Friday, I like to share some thoughts, learnings, and reflections from my quiet times during the week. I hope they’re encouraging and helpful!

Be blessed this week,

Pastor Hugh

I cannot allow selfish pride to turn public embarrassment into anger, for then I will not notice the hand of the LORD working.

“And Balaam said to the donkey, ‘Because you have made a fool of me. I wish I had a sword in my hand, for then I would kill you.’….Then the Lord opened the eyes of Balaam, and he saw the angel of the Lord standing in the way, with his drawn sword in his hand. And he bowed down and fell on his face.” Numbers 22:29-31

Offerings to the Lord, whether possessions, time, or self, should never be leftovers or rejects.

"Besides the regular burnt offering and its grain offering, you shall offer them and their drink offering.  See that they are without blemish.” Numbers 28:31

God takes His followers at their word and holds them to their word.

“If a man vows a vow to the LORD or swears an oath to bind himself by a pledge, he shall not break his word. He shall do according to all that proceeds out of his mouth.” Numbers 30:2

Do not fear and be confused by how life’s circumstances appear but focus and trust in the Lord’s will and word.

”See, the Lord your God has set the land before you. Go up, take possession, as the Lord, the God of your fathers, has told you. Do not fear or be dismayed.” Deuteronomy 1:21

It is presumptuous to believe that I can circumvent the will and word of the Lord.

“So I spoke to you, and you would not listen; but you rebelled against the command of the Lord and presumptuously went up into the hill country.” Deuteronomy 1:43

The LORD gives but I must receive.

“And I commanded you at that time, saying, ‘The Lord your God has given you this land to possess. All your men of valor shall cross over armed before your brothers, the people of Israel.’” Deuteronomy 3:18

The teaching of God’s Word is not just for the transfer and accumulation of knowledge, but it is for belief and obedience, it is for life.

“Now this is the commandment, the statutes and the rules, that the LORD your God commanded me to teach you, that you may do them in the land to which you are going over, to possess it,” Deuteronomy 6:1
