Thoughts from the Week: 12/31/21

Each Friday, I like to share some thoughts, learnings, and reflections from my quiet times during the week. I hope they’re encouraging and helpful!

Be blessed this week,

Pastor Hugh

Hope in Jesus enables born-again believers to suffer for others.

“If we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; and if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which you experience when you patiently endure the same sufferings that we suffer.  Our hope for you is unshaken, for we know that as you share in our sufferings, you will also share in our comfort.” 2 Corinthians 1:6-7

Hope in Jesus is the assurance of a born-again believer’s life.

"He delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us. On him we have set our hope that he will deliver us again.” 2 Corinthians 1:10

Hope in Jesus is evident in the joyous hope we have in others.

“For what is our hope or joy or crown of boasting before our Lord Jesus at his coming? Is it not you? For you are our glory and joy.” 1 Thessalonians 2:19-20

Hope in Jesus sustains our ministry to others.

”For to this end we toil and strive, because we have our hope set on the living God, who is the Savior of all people, especially of those who believe.” 1 Timothy 4:10

Hope in Jesus faithfully endures as we confidently boast in Him, not ourselves.

“but Christ is faithful over God's house as a son. And we are his house, if indeed we hold fast our confidence and our boasting in our hope.” Hebrews 3:6

Hope in Jesus securely anchors one’s soul.

“We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain, where Jesus has gone as a forerunner on our behalf, having become a high priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.” Hebrews 6:19-20

Hope in Jesus is based on His faithfulness.

“Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.” Hebrews 10:23
