Thoughts from the Week: 12/24/21

Each Friday, I like to share some thoughts, learnings, and reflections from my quiet times during the week. I hope they’re encouraging and helpful!

Be blessed this week,

Pastor Hugh

Jesus is merciful and desires for His followers to be merciful.

“Go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.’ For I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.” Matthew 9:13

As Jesus is moved by mercy so also His followers should be.

"Moved with pity, he stretched out his hand and touched him and said to him, ‘I will; be clean.’” Mark 1:41

Jesus feels compassion for the hopeless.

“And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her and said to her, ‘Do not weep.’” Luke 7:13

Jesus wills to be compassionate and show mercy to the hopeless.

”For he says to Moses, ‘I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.’” Romans 9:15

Compassion is part of the character of Christian fellowship.

“So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind.” Philippians 2:1-2

Compassion is part of the nature of born-again believers.

“Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience,” Colossians 3:12

Jesus has called His followers to holy sanctification.

“For God has not called us for impurity, but in holiness.” 1 Thessalonians 4:7
