Thoughts from the Week: 7/14/23

Each Friday, I like to share some thoughts, learnings, and reflections from my quiet times during the week. I hope they’re encouraging and helpful!

Be blessed this week,

Pastor Hugh

Everything needed to live a godly life has been supplied through the ever present and power of the Holy Spirit.

“for His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence.” 2 Peter 1:3

With the filling of the Holy Spirit’s indwelling presence, Jesus’ character becomes increasingly evident in the life of a believer.

“For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they do not make you useless nor unproductive in the true knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.” 2 Peter 1:8

All of scripture was inspired and directed by the Holy Spirit.

“But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture becomes a matter of someone’s own interpretation, for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.” 2 Peter 1:20-21

We should not fear temptations since Jesus knows how to rescue those who are tempted.

“then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from a trial, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment for the day of judgment,” 2 Peter 2:9

The return of Jesus will assuredly and suddenly take place as He said.

“But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be discovered.” 2 Peter 3:10

A believer’s life is lived in light of God’s Word.

“Since all these things are to be destroyed in this way, what sort of people ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness,” 2 Peter 3:11
