Thoughts from the Week: 5/27/22

Each Friday, I like to share some thoughts, learnings, and reflections from my quiet times during the week. I hope they’re encouraging and helpful!

Be blessed this week,

Pastor Hugh

It is vain to try to control our lives.

“It is in vain that you rise up early and go late to rest, eating the bread of anxious toil; for He gives to his beloved sleep.” Psalm 127:2

A heart of integrity will receive the goodness of the Lord.

“Do good, O Lord, to those who are good, and to those who are upright in their hearts!” Psalm 125:4

The Lord is good and can only do good.

“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, for His steadfast love endures forever.” Psalm 136:1

God remembers us when we are struggling.

“It is He who remembered us in our low estate, for His steadfast love endures forever;” Psalm 136:23

I daily reach up to the Lord, desiring His presence.

“I stretch out my hands to You; my soul thirsts for You like a parched land.” Psalm 143:6

Admonishment to righteousness is seen as kindness to a person with a repentant heart.

“Let a righteous man strike me—it is a kindness; let him rebuke me—it is oil for my head; let my head not refuse it.” Psalm 141:5

When I lift up my burdened soul before the Lord, it is a fragrant offering to Him.

“Let my prayer be counted as incense before You, and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice!” Psalm 119:130
