Thoughts from the Week: 3/11/22

Each Friday, I like to share some thoughts, learnings, and reflections from my quiet times during the week. I hope they’re encouraging and helpful!

Be blessed this week,

Pastor Hugh

Admission and confession of sin brings the forgiveness of God, but a person must still bear the consequences of their sin.

“David said to Nathan, ‘I have sinned against the Lord.’ And Nathan said to David, ‘The Lord also has put away your sin; you shall not die. Nevertheless, because by this deed you have utterly scorned the Lord, the child who is born to you shall die.’” 2 Samuel 12:13-14

When we find ourselves in tight situations, we should place ourselves in the hand of God.

“Be of good courage, and let us be courageous for our people, and for the cities of our God, and may the Lord do what seems good to him.” 2 Samuel 10:12

Parents hold out eternal hope for their children.

“The watchman saw another man running. And the watchman called to the gate and said, ‘See, another man running alone!’ The king said, ‘He also brings news.’” 2 Samuel 18:26

When I attentively listen to the Lord, the Holy Spirit will speak through me.

“The Spirit of the Lord speaks by me; His word is on my tongue.” 2 Samuel 23:2

My sin must be confessed and repented of in order for the Lord to act upon my prayers.

“And they buried the bones of Saul and his son Jonathan in the land of Benjamin in Zela, in the tomb of Kish his father. And they did all that the king commanded. And after that God responded to the plea for the land.” 2 Samuel 21:14

I am to nourish and cherish my family.

“For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church,” Ephesians 5:29

As a born-again believer I am to guard my walk with Jesus since I represent Him to the world.

“Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.” Ephesians 5:15-16
