The Christian Dream

Growing up in America does not guarantee every American will experience the American Dream, but every American will have the opportunity of the American Dream.  The same can be said about Christians.  Every believer in Jesus the Christ may not experience the Christian Dream, but every believer has the opportunity of experiencing the Christian Dream.  But in order to fully understand this statement we must first answer the question, ‘What is the Christian Dream?’.  The American Dream is that Americans have the opportunity to pursue a better life.  It is the liberty to enjoy and pursue one’s own destiny.  So, for the believer the Christian Dream would be to pursue and enjoy a life of destiny with Jesus their Lord and Savior.

The Christian Dream is to experience life which is all in Jesus and about Jesus.  It is to live in and through Him.  He is the believer’s life and joy.

“And he put all things under his feet and gave him as head over all things to the church,  which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.” Ephesians 1:22-23

According to John chapter fifteen this life is experienced in abiding in Jesus.

“Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.” John 15:4-5

The Christian Dream is realized in the believer’s intimate fellowship with Jesus.  Scripture describes it in many ways, resting in Him, leaning on Him, walking with Him, communing together.  The Apostle Paul relates it to being filled with the Spirit of Jesus.

“….but be filled with the Spirit, addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ.” Ephesians 5:18-21

The Christian Dream is to pursue and enjoy Jesus, to be enthralled with Him, to desire Him above all else even life itself.

“that they should seek God, and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him. Yet he is actually not far from each one of us, for ‘In him we live and move and have our being’;….” Acts 17:27-28

Pursue and enjoy Jesus today and be blessed by Him.
