Thoughts from the Week: 8/4/23

Each Friday, I like to share some thoughts, learnings, and reflections from my quiet times during the week. I hope they’re encouraging and helpful!

Be blessed this week,

Pastor Hugh

Isaiah 40:28 – “Have you not known? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable.”

Life is so busy and demanding.  Between work, school, church, family, and society there is very little time for oneself.  We can easily become overwhelmed and weary in our day-to-day life.  There is so much expectancy placed upon us that what should be a blessing filled with joy becomes a dreaded drudgery.  But believers are reminded that the Lord is our strength.  Psalm 3:3 states, “But you, O LORD, are a shield about me, my glory, and the lifter of my head.”.  The Lord lifts our head up when it is down filling our hearts with joy.  In His strength we can joyfully face every opportunity to do good.

Galatians 6:9-10 – “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.”

Rest in Jesus and learn to abide in Him and He will sustain you.

Isaiah 40:29-31 – “He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength.  Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”
