Thoughts from the Week: 7/7/23

Each Friday, I like to share some thoughts, learnings, and reflections from my quiet times during the week. I hope they’re encouraging and helpful!

Be blessed this week,

Pastor Hugh

Believers do not live selfishly but for the glory and will of God almighty.

“so as to live the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for human lusts, but for the will of God.” 1 Peter 4:2

The joy of a person’s Spiritual Gift is found in its use to serve others in the Body of Christ.

“As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the multifaceted grace of God.” 1 Peter 4:10

Every part and moment of a person’s life is to glorify Jesus.

“Whoever speaks is to do so as one who is speaking actual words of God; whoever serves is to do so as one who is serving by the strength which God supplies; so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belongs the glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.” 1 Peter 4:11

The shepherd of the church eagerly volunteers oversight of the church.

“shepherd the flock of God among you, exercising oversight, not under compulsion but voluntarily, according to the will of God; and not with greed but with eagerness;” 1 Peter 5:2

A good shepherd is an example of Christ to the church.

“nor yet as domineering over those assigned to your care, but by proving to be examples to the flock.” 1 Peter 5:3

A Christian’s humility never goes out of style.

“You younger men, likewise, be subject to your elders; and all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because God is opposed to the proud, but He gives grace to the humble.” 1 Peter 5:5

Jesus can be trusted with our worries and anxiety because He cares for us.

“having cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares about you.” 1 Peter 5:7
