Thoughts from the Week: 6/23/23
Each Friday, I like to share some thoughts, learnings, and reflections from my quiet times during the week. I hope they’re encouraging and helpful!
Be blessed this week,
Pastor Hugh
A right motive and a pure heart gently spread peace.
“And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.” James 3:18
Pride and greed will not allow a person to ask Jesus for help.
“You lust and do not have, so you commit murder. And you are envious and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have because you do not ask.” James 4:2
To comfortably rest in Jesus is to be uncomfortably restless in the world.
“You adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore whoever wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.” James 4:4
Not knowing the intent of a person’s heart we should not judge the motives of their life.
“Do not speak against one another, brothers and sisters. The one who speaks against a brother or sister, or judges his brother or sister, speaks against the law and judges the law; but if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge of it.” James 4:11
We should guard our tongues since Jesus knows the intent of our hearts.
“Do not complain, brothers and sisters, against one another, so that you may not be judged; behold, the Judge is standing right at the door.” James 5:9
In all things we should pray and praise Jesus.
“Is anyone among you suffering? Then he must pray. Is anyone cheerful? He is to sing praises.” James 5:13
The salvation of humankind is brought about by the desires of Yahweh.
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,” 1 Peter 1:3
