Thoughts from the Week: 5/12/23

Each Friday, I like to share some thoughts, learnings, and reflections from my quiet times during the week. I hope they’re encouraging and helpful!

Be blessed this week,

Pastor Hugh

Love for Jesus and others refreshes everyone’s soul.
“For I have had great joy and comfort in your love, because the hearts of the [g]saints have been refreshed through you, brother.” Philemon 1:7

It is better to ask in love than to demand in pride.
“Therefore, though I have enough confidence in Christ to order you to do what is proper, yet for love’s sake I rather appeal to you—since I am such a person as Paul, an old man, and now also a prisoner of Christ Jesus—.” Philemon 1:9

Jesus is the agent of creation.
“God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom He also made the world.” Hebrews 1:1-2

Jesus is the sustainer of creation.
“And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,” Hebrews 1:3

Angels are ministers of God’s grace toward believers.
“Are they not all ministering spirits, sent out to provide service for the sake of those who will inherit salvation?” Hebrews 1:14

Faith must be anchored in sound doctrine or it will drift from truth into myth.
“For this reason we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away from it.” Hebrews 2:1

The Holy Spirit’s work testifies of the fulfillment of God’s will in a believer’s life.
“God also testifying with them, both by signs and wonders, and by various miracles and by gifts of the Holy Spirit according to His own will.” Hebrews 2:4
