Thoughts from the Week: 3/31/23

Each Friday, I like to share some thoughts, learnings, and reflections from my quiet times during the week. I hope they’re encouraging and helpful!

Be blessed this week,

Pastor Hugh

The desire of Christ’s church is to be found holy and blameless upon the return of Jesus.
“so that He may establish your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all His saints,” 1 Thessalonians 3:13

To be Christlike is God’s desire for all His saints.
“For this is the will of God, your sanctification,” 1 Thessalonians 4:3

Those who expectantly desire Jesus’ return will not be caught off guard when it happens.
“so then, let’s not sleep as others do, but let’s be alert and sober.”1 Thessalonians 5:6

The soundness of the church’s teaching rests in its careful examination of all teachings in light of Scripture.
“but examine everything; hold firmly to that which is good, abstain from every form of evil.” 1 Thessalonians 5:20-21

Our love for others increases in proportion to the increase of our faith.
“We ought always to give thanks to God for you, brothers and sisters, as is only fitting, because your faith is increasing abundantly, and the love of each and every one of you toward one another grows ever greater.” 2 Thessalonians 1:3

We are not to be close to those who live a life that is unscriptural and undisciplined, but we should show them love and mercy.
“Now we command you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you keep away from every brother or sister who leads a disorderly life and not one in accordance with the tradition which you received from us.” 2 Thessalonians 3:6

As believers in Jesus, we should be examples of Christ for others.
“not because we do not have the right to this, but in order to offer ourselves as a role model for you, so that you would follow our example.” 2 Thessalonians 3:9
