Thoughts from the Week: 3/24/23

Each Friday, I like to share some thoughts, learnings, and reflections from my quiet times during the week. I hope they’re encouraging and helpful!

Be blessed this week,

Pastor Hugh

The love of Christ binds the church of Jesus into one living united spiritual organism.
“that their hearts may be encouraged, having been knit together in love, and that they would attain to all the wealth that comes from the full assurance of understanding, resulting in a true knowledge of God’s mystery, that is, Christ Himself,” Colossians 2:2

To be saved by faith is to live by faith.
“Therefore, as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him,” Colossians 2:6

The mind of a Christian is set in the mind of Christ and dwells on spiritual things from above.
“Set your minds on the things that are above, not on the things that are on earth.” Colossians 3:2

A spirit of gratitude should accompany a believer’s prayers to the Lord.
“Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving;” Colossians 4:2

In imitating Jesus, the Christian life is one full of tribulation mixed with joy.
“You also became imitators of us and of the Lord, having received the word during great affliction with the joy of the Holy Spirit,” 1 Thessalonians 1:6

Past persecutions have no effect on present boldness.
“but after we had already suffered and been treated abusively in Philippi, as you know, we had the boldness in our God to speak to you the gospel of God amid much opposition;” 1 Thessalonians 2:2

We should seek to please Jesus for it is His gospel and He is the judge of all.
“but just as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, so we speak, not intending to please people, but to please God, who examines our hearts.” 1 Thessalonians 2:4
