Thoughts from the Week: 2/17/23

Each Friday, I like to share some thoughts, learnings, and reflections from my quiet times during the week. I hope they’re encouraging and helpful!

Be blessed this week,

Pastor Hugh

Satan is the great pretender.
“But I am afraid that, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds will be led astray from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ.” 2 Corinthians 11:3

False teachers are deceitful teachers, messengers of Satan who care only about themselves.
“For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. No wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.” 2 Corinthians 11:13-14

Even Satan’s messengers can be used to serve God’s purpose.
“Because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations, for this reason, to keep me from exalting myself, there was given me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to torment me—to keep me from exalting myself!” 2 Corinthians 12:7

We are to boast only in our inabilities and weaknesses so that Jesus is exalted and God glorified.
“On behalf of such a man I will boast; but on my own behalf I will not boast, except in regard to my weaknesses.” 2 Corinthians 12:5

Giving our all to Jesus is joyously giving our all to His Bride, the church.
“I will most gladly spend and be expended for your souls. If I love you more, am I to be loved less?” 2 Corinthians 12:15

Believers will be in step with each other if they are in step with Jesus.
“I urged Titus to go, and I sent the brother with him. Titus did not take any advantage of you, did he? Did we not conduct ourselves in the same spirit and walk in the same steps?” 2 Corinthians 12:18

The true test of our salvation is the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit working in and through us.
“Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you—unless indeed you fail the test? 2 Corinthians 13:5
