Thoughts from the Week: 2/10/23

Each Friday, I like to share some thoughts, learnings, and reflections from my quiet times during the week. I hope they’re encouraging and helpful!

Be blessed this week,

Pastor Hugh

When we live in our affections, we are restrained by them, but when we live in Jesus’ Spirit, we are freed from them.

“You are not restrained by us, but you are restrained in your own affections.” 2 Corinthians 6:12

The answer for a depressed day is the comfort of a sovereign, almighty God.

“But God, who comforts the depressed, comforted us by the coming of Titus;” 2 Corinthians 7:6

The joy of the Spirit overflows in opportunities to participate in generosity.

“Now, brethren, we wish to make known to you the grace of God which has been given in the churches of Macedonia, that in a great ordeal of affliction their abundance of joy and their deep poverty overflowed in the wealth of their liberality.” 2 Corinthians 8:1-2

The promised hand of generosity must not be moved by greed.

“So I thought it necessary to urge the brethren that they would go on ahead to you and arrange beforehand your previously promised bountiful gift, so that the same would be ready as a bountiful gift and not affected by covetousness.” 2 Corinthians 9:5

When we are blessed in God’s grace, we are to take opportunities to pass it on to others.

“And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that always having all sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every good deed;” 2 Corinthians 9:8
