Thoughts from the Week: 12/9/22

Each Friday, I like to share some thoughts, learnings, and reflections from my quiet times during the week. I hope they’re encouraging and helpful!

Be blessed this week,

Pastor Hugh

It is not what someone does but Jesus’ calling which sets them apart to Himself.

“though they were not yet born and had done nothing either good or bad—in order that God's purpose of election might continue, not because of works but because of him who calls— ” Romans 9:11

We must learn to obey the Holy Spirit without misgivings.

“ And the Spirit told me to go with them, making no distinction. These six brothers also accompanied me, and we entered the man's house.” Acts 11:12

Jesus rescues me from the expectations of others.

"When Peter came to himself, he said, 'Now I am sure that the Lord has sent his angel and rescued me from the hand of Herod and from all that the Jewish people were expecting.'” Acts 12:11

When we humbly pray and seek Jesus we receive and know His will.

“While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, 'Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.’” Acts 13:2

When a person is continually filled with the Spirit of Jesus they are continually filled with His character.

“But the people of the city were divided; some sided with the Jews and some with the apostles.” Acts 14:4

We should not pridefully elevate ourselves above other believers, for we all abide in the same Jesus.

“do not be arrogant toward the branches. If you are, remember it is not you who support the root, but the root that supports you.” Romans 11:18
