Thoughts from the Week: 10/14/22
Each Friday, I like to share some thoughts, learnings, and reflections from my quiet times during the week. I hope they’re encouraging and helpful!
Be blessed this week,
Pastor Hugh
To be filled with the Spirit is to be filled with grace and power.
“And Stephen, full of grace and power, was performing great wonders and signs among the people.” Acts 6:8
Faith is living each day in the assurances of Jesus.
“But as the time of the promise which God had assured to Abraham was approaching, the people increased and multiplied in Egypt,” Acts 7:17
The ways and workings of the Holy Spirit are unconventional to the ways and workings of humankind.
“But an angel of the Lord spoke to Philip, saying, ‘Get ready and go south to the road that descends from Jerusalem to Gaza.’ (This is a desert road.)” Acts 8:26
The church moves forward by the work of the Holy Spirit and its reverence for Jesus.
“So the church throughout Judea, Galilee, and Samaria enjoyed peace, as it was being built up; and as it continued in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, it kept increasing.” Acts 9:31
Divine appointments are arranged by God and carried out by people who are led by God.
“They said, ‘Cornelius, a centurion, a righteous and God-fearing man well spoken of by the entire nation of the Jews, was divinely directed by a holy angel to send for you to come to his house and hear a message from you.’ So he invited them in and gave them lodging. “Acts 10:22-23
When Jesus moves we must yield.
“Therefore, if God gave them the same gift as He also gave to us after believing in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could stand in God’s way?” Acts 11:17
The prayers of the church should be intensely zealous, stretching from within and reaching outward to Jesus.
“So Peter was kept in the prison, but prayer for him was being made to God intensely by the church..” Acts 12:5
