Thoughts from the Week: 8/26/22

Each Friday, I like to share some thoughts, learnings, and reflections from my quiet times during the week. I hope they’re encouraging and helpful!

Be blessed this week,

Pastor Hugh

A word from the Lord strengthens our souls.

“And He said, ‘O man greatly loved, fear not, peace be with you; be strong and of good courage.” And as He spoke to me, I was strengthened and said, “Let my lord speak, for you have strengthened me.” Daniel 10:19

The Lord patiently waits on a heart of repentance.

” I will return again to My place, until they acknowledge their guilt and seek My face, and in their distress earnestly seek Me.’” Hosea 5:15

To truly experience forgiveness of our sins, our worship of God must come from our hearts not just our minds.

“As for My sacrificial offerings, they sacrifice meat and eat it, but the Lord does not accept them.
Now He will remember their iniquity and punish their sins; they shall return to Egypt.” Hosea 8:13

If we are not walking in step with the Lord, then can easily walk away from Him.

“My people are bent on turning away from Me, and though they call out to the Most High, He shall not raise them up at all.” Hosea 11:7

Inward brokenness of our hearts is of more value than the outward show of our religion.

“’and rend your hearts and not your garments.  Return to the Lord your God, for He is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love; and he relents over disaster.” Joel 2:13

Without an awakening to our wrong, our sin will only increase.

“They do not know how to do right,’ declares the Lord, ‘those who store up violence and robbery in their strongholds.’” Amos 3:10
