Thoughts from the Week: 7/22/22

Each Friday, I like to share some thoughts, learnings, and reflections from my quiet times during the week. I hope they’re encouraging and helpful!

Be blessed this week,

Pastor Hugh

The heart’s secret sin, though concealed in hypocrisy, will eventually be revealed.

“Their tongue is a deadly arrow; it speaks deceitfully; with his mouth each speaks peace to his neighbor, but in his heart he plans an ambush for him.” Jeremiah 9:8

It is easy to talk like and look like Jesus and yet never know Him.

“You plant them, and they take root; they grow and produce fruit; you are near in their mouth and far from their heart.” Jeremiah 12:2

We sometimes must bear reproach for the glory of the Lord.

“O LORD, you know; remember me and visit me, and take vengeance for me on my persecutors. In your forbearance take me not away; know that for your sake I bear reproach.” Jeremiah 15:15

Those who feast on the Lord’s words find magnificent joy.

“Your words were found, and I ate them, and your words became to me a joy and the delight of my heart, for I am called by your name, O LORD, God of hosts.” Jeremiah 15:16

The Word of the Lord is not always popular nor pleasant.

“Now it came to pass, when Jeremiah had made an end of speaking all that the LORD had commanded him to speak unto all the people, that the priests and the prophets and all the people took him, saying, Thou shalt surely die.  Why hast thou prophesied in the name of the LORD, saying, This house shall be like Shiloh, and this city shall be desolate without an inhabitant? And all the people were gathered against Jeremiah in the house of the LORD.” Jeremiah 26:8-9

Contentment is being satisfied in the goodness of the Lord.

“I will feast the soul of the priests with abundance, and My people shall be satisfied with My goodness, declares the LORD.” Jeremiah 31:14
