Thoughts from the Week: 6/24/22

Each Friday, I like to share some thoughts, learnings, and reflections from my quiet times during the week. I hope they’re encouraging and helpful!

Be blessed this week,

Pastor Hugh

When God removes His support, then people we have a problem.

“For behold, the Lord GOD of hosts is taking away from Jerusalem and from Judah support and supply, all support of bread, and all support of water;” Isaiah 3:1

A hard, unrepentant heart dulls one’s sensitivity to the voice and promptings of the Holy Spirit.

“Make the heart of this people dull, and their ears heavy, and blind their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their hearts, and turn and be healed.” Isaiah 6:10

Resisting God is wearisome to Him.

“And he said, ‘Hear then, O house of David! Is it too little for you to weary men, that you weary my God also?’” Isaiah 7:13

Man’s agenda will not succeed without God’s consent.

“Take counsel together, but it will come to nothing; speak a word, but it will not stand, for God is with us.” Isaiah 8:10

When Jesus shows up peace rules the hearts of those who believe in Him but fear rules those who do not.

“An oracle concerning Egypt. Behold, the LORD is riding on a swift cloud and comes to Egypt; and the idols of Egypt will tremble at his presence, and the heart of the Egyptians will melt within them.” Isaiah 19:1

Jesus will not be moved and is a firm foundation for one’s life.

“Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD GOD is an everlasting rock.” Isaiah 26:4

Those who live believing that death is the final act in their life, live deceived by their own hearts.

“Because you have said, ‘We have made a covenant with death, and with Sheol we have an agreement, when the overwhelming whip passes through it will not come to us, for we have made lies our refuge, and in falsehood we have taken shelter’;….Then your covenant with death will be annulled, and your agreement with Sheol will not stand; when the overwhelming scourge passes through, you will be beaten down by it.” Isaiah 28:15&18
