Thoughts from the Week: 12/17/21

Each Friday, I like to share some thoughts, learnings, and reflections from my quiet times during the week. I hope they’re encouraging and helpful!

Be blessed this week,

Pastor Hugh

The Holy Spirit gives insight into the thoughts and ways of God.

“At once I was in the Spirit, and behold, a throne stood in heaven, with one seated on the throne.” Revelation 4:2

Our reserved inheritance in Jesus never diminishes.

"to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you,” 1 Peter 1:4

All of creation will honor and glorify Jesus.

“And I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying, ‘To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!’ And the four living creatures said, ‘Amen!’ and the elders fell down and worshiped.” Revelation 5:13-14

Authentic faith results in praise, glory, and honor.

”so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.” 1 Peter 1:7

Knowing the possibility of God’s coming judgement should change one’s lifestyle.

“Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of people ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness, waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be set on fire and dissolved, and the heavenly bodies will melt as they burn!” 2 Peter 3:11-12

Our own desires sometimes cause us to take God’s Word lightly.

“knowing this first of all, that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own sinful desires. They will say, ‘Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things are continuing as they were from the beginning of creation’” 2 Peter 3:3-4

The Law of God was designed to produce faith and repentance so a person could experience the abounding grace of God.

“What then shall we say? That the law is sin? By no means! Yet if it had not been for the law, I would not have known sin. For I would not have known what it is to covet if the law had not said, ‘You shall not covet.’” Romans 7:7
