Thoughts from the Week: 10/1/21

Each Friday, I like to share some thoughts, learnings, and reflections from my quiet times during the week. I hope they’re encouraging and helpful!

Be blessed this week,

Pastor Hugh

It is not fitting for the Body of Christ to think, live, and act like the world.

"But immorality or any impurity or greed must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints; and there must be no filthiness and silly talk, or coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks." - Ephesians 5:3-4 (NASB95)

Things pertaining to Jesus endure with awesome value.

"…I also consider everything to be a loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord." - Philippians 3:8a (CSB)

Humble faith in Jesus leads one in a peaceful, contented life.

"…I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I find myself.." - Philippians 4:11 (CSB)

One's faith in Jesus allows them to be alert and sober in the midst of world events.

"But you, brothers and sisters, are not in the dark, for this day to surprise you like a thief. For you are all children of light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or the darkness. So then, let us not sleep, like the rest, but let us stay awake and be self-controlled." - 1 Thessalonians 5:4-6 (CSB)

An examination of one’s faith in Jesus strengthens one’s determination for Jesus.

“Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you—unless indeed you fail the test?” - 2 Corinthians 13:5 (NASB95)
